Paper by JLee: Ithaca Summer Wedding

The mot wonderful bride-to-be contacted me through my Etsy site last summer and asked if I could design some custom pieces for her summer 2016 wedding in Ithaca, New York.  She already had a general idea of the tone she wanted for her special day along with Pinterest idea boards and color schemes. Over the course of a year we worked together to create multiple items to bring her wedding day together. In the end I created a welcome sign, guest welcome booklet, bar menu (pictured above), dinner menu, ceremony program, escort drink tags, mini bourbon bottle favor tags, as well as various table and food labels.

I started with some rough design ideas for the larger items needed and once we landed on a winning design, the rest of the items fell into place fairly easily (perks of designing for a creative and thoughtful bride!). I emphasized the bride's elegant outdoor barn wedding theme with peachy florals and greens. You may recognize the watercolor roses in the bar menu, welcome sign and welcome booklet from my Watercolor Roses Tutorial blog post. This is the wedding I mentioned in that blog post!

In addition to watercolors, I also tried my luck at hand lettering on glass for the dinner menu, ceremony program and Instagram sign. I spent a fun morning at Michael's shopping for the perfect paint pen for the job. The Craft Smart Multi-Surface Premium Paint Pen was the best I found. I bought the pen in three sizes so I could easily paint small details and large areas which really made the process easier and faster.

Take a look at the photos below to see the finished products! The insanely talented Jessica Fey of Craft & Record took all the gorgeous photos you see on this post. A big thanks to Jessica for sharing her photos with me!
